Who We Are

Monarch Child & Family Therapy Inc. is a multidisciplinary practice in Winnipeg supporting children, teens, adults, couples and families. Our approach to client care is built on the foundations of attachment, trauma-responsive care and neuro-relational practice. We believe healing happens through safe, connected relationships, and that children do best when the adults around them feel understood and supported too.

Our team brings together Canadian Certified Counsellors, Registered Social Workers, a paediatric Occupational Therapist and supervised student therapists. Each of us brings a different lens, and we share one goal: helping families feel more connected, regulated and confident.

Our Areas of Specialty

  • Child development: understanding where your child is developmentally, and what they need to grow across all areas of development
  • Parenting support: practical, relationship-based guidance for the everyday and the overwhelming
  • School support and collaboration: bringing parents and schools together to plan for their child
  • Adoption, foster care and permanency: adoption-competent support for children, caregivers and the professionals who work with them
  • Complex behaviours: making sense of big, baffling behaviours at home, at school and in the community
  • Emotion regulation: including support for children with ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences and trauma histories
  • Anxiety: for children, teens and adults
  • Depression: compassionate support through low mood, grief and life transitions
  • Relationship challenges: working through relationship challenges and supporting healthy connections

Why a Multi-Disciplinary Team Matters

Children and families rarely come to us with just one concern. A child’s anxiety may be tangled up with sensory needs, school stress and a parent’s exhaustion. That’s why Monarch brings several disciplines together under one roof.

The right fit from the start. We match each family with the clinician whose training best fits their needs, so you aren’t starting over with someone new.

Care that connects. Our counsellors, social workers and occupational therapist can work alongside each other. For example, a child might see our OT for sensory regulation while their parents work with a counsellor on connection at home.

Fewer places to go. Instead of being referred from one office to the next, families can often find counselling, occupational therapy, parenting support and group programs in one place.

Support for the whole family. We work with children and the adults who care for them, because lasting change happens in relationships, not in isolation.

Help navigating the systems around your child. Our team has experience collaborating with schools, child welfare and other professionals, and helping families access the resources and supports their child needs.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Our support doesn’t stop at individual therapy.

Monarch also offers:

Group support. Groups and parent programs where families learn together, build skills and connect with others facing similar challenges.

Training and education for parents and caregivers. Courses and workshops grounded in child development and relational, attachment-based approaches, including programs informed by the Neufeld Institute’s developmental approach.

Training and consultation for professionals. Educators, caregivers, child welfare workers and other professionals can learn from our team’s expertise in:

  • The Neufeld Institute’s relational developmental approach (our team includes Neufeld Institute faculty)
  • Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) (our team includes a trained TBRI Practitioner)
  • Circle of Security Parenting
  • Child development and relational development
  • Adoption, foster care and permanency planning
